Spalletti: ‘Nainggolan in because I wanted to win’

When asked post match about his decision to replace the injured Marcelo Brozovic with a semi-fit Raja Nainggolan, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti had this to say.

“Nainggolan came on instead of Borja for the same reason that D’Ambrosio played over Cedric and Asamoah over Dalbert. This is because Atalanta like to attack man on man and i thought we could trouble them.”

When asked about the match overall and the impact it would have on the league standings, Luciano stated:

“It’s an unpredictable league with peaks and troughs, there’s no coherent pattern. We don’t know what the next results will be so we have to move forward and put in positive performances and get points.”
