Stefano Sensi has been a complete baller since joining Inter on loan from Sassuolo this summer. A low-key transfer in the eyes of most fans for the summer mercato, among Lukaku, Godin, Sanchez and Barella. No one expected “Sensational Stefano Sensi” to have the impact he has had to date.

As has become the norm in the last few seasons Sensi arrived as part of a loan move with an option to buy for €28 million. Which now seems like an absolute robbery. A master stroke from Beppe once again.

Serie A Form

Inter have played 3 rounds of the Serie A to date. Leece, Cagliari & most recently Udinese, claiming all 3 points in those games while only conceding 2 goals and scoring 7. Sensi has started all 3 of these games, scoring 2 goals with 4 assists. Inter’s No.12 setting a blistering pace so early in the season.

His latest performance saw him voted man of the match. Scoring the winning goal he had no business to score. Beating Udinese’s central defender to nod home Godin’s inch perfect ball in. The high level of his performances have been reiterated by the player ratings he received in games against Lecce, Cagliari & Udinese. None of which were below 8/10.

Sensational Stefano Sensi has been instrumental in Inter’s first 3 games in the League. His performances drive those around him to play attacking football at a fast pace. Conte likens Sensi to a sponge, soaking up tactical instruction and advice. An amazing asset to aid Brozovic in the control of midfield.

National Team Form

Sensi has 4 international caps for Italy. November 2018 saw a debut appearance in a 1-0 friendly triumph over the USA. A first international goal came in 6-0 hammering of Liechtenstein, an outstanding accomplishment to score a goal for his country in only his second International game at senior level.

As his stock rises with both Inter, it is inevitable that Mancini will have more minutes for him in the Italian national side.

Attributes

In spite of his slender build, Stefano is a very physical player. Not afraid to challenge for dirty 50/50 balls on the ground or in an aerial battle.

Sensi seems to be the complete player needed in our midfield.

Amazing vision.

Ball control.

Pace.

Ability to shoot.

Placed ball delivery.

Left or right foot.

Decision making.

Distribution of the ball.

I could go on & on, Stefano Sensi has the technical ability we have craved for, the technical ability that has been missing in the squad. He may not be as big & strong as Vecino or Gagliardini, his size does not affect how he applies himself on the pitch. If anything he uses his size as an advantage, a low center of gravity allowing him to pivot at pace. His ability to chop & change from right to left keeps defenders backing off him, allowing him time to pick the perfect pass.

Comparisons

So, this can be a topic for you & your mates at the high stool. However his performances, attributes, his style of play have many fans & “pundits” comparing Stefano with some World-Class midfield players.

Some Inter fans have compared him to 2010 Treble winner Wesley Sneijder. Many on twitter liken him to Xavi & Verratti, the latter 2 players are of a similar build & style of play to that of Stefano.

For most however, (including myself) the name that comes to mind is Andrea Pirlo. Both Pirlo & Sensi have the creative flair to their games. Neither looking overly dangerous, until you put the ball at their feet. Whether in open play or standing over a placed ball, the opposition will have their work cut out for them.

Champions League

Inter face Slavia Praha in the opening round of the Champions League today. Sensi is surely relishing the chance to play in the worlds most elite club football competition. Performing on the biggest stage in European Club football will only add to his already promising Inter career.

Stefano Sensi has the drive, determination, & technical ability to play for Inter. To date he has shown that he is up to the task. The opposition may not have been world class so far this season, but tonight the UCL offers another step up in terms of performance for Sensi.

For now lets hope his form continues, and he remains

Sensational Stefano Sensi.
