Inter made an exhilarating comeback against a sinking Torino side. Diego Godin scored his first goal for the nerazzurri side while Lautaro Martinez returned to the scoring sheet as well.
Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Young and Marcelo Brozovic also played a crucial part in the comeback win. Sanchez has been performing really well while also racking up assists since the restart.
Antonio Conte was pleased with the performance from his lads today and spoke to the media after the match.
“I think the boys started off really well. We were dominating every aspect of the game from the beginning.”
”It’s a shame that today it was our captain, Handanovic, who messed up, and he rarely gets it wrong. But this is typical of how things are going at the minute.”
“conceding early on could have made us nervous and caused us problems psychologically. The boys did well to stay calm and continue doing what we’d practised on the training ground. Diego Godin became our 18th scorer of the season and I’m really pleased for him. What these numbers show is that we have a range of options in attack.”
Conte discussed his future with the club and said: “I was brought to Inter as part of a project, and it’s my job to bring this Club back to where it deserves to be. That means we need to get back to winning ways. I arrived here with great enthusiasm, I’ve got faith in the Club, and the Club has faith in me.“
Conte praised Alexis Sanchez and Christian Eriksen for their professionalism “Christian is working hard, when we came back after lockdown he showed up with a good attitude. He needs to maintain his level and continue to work hard. Alexis likes to pick up the ball between the lines, he gets a lot of assists and creates a lot of chances going forward. He’s doing well now, we’re happy.“
Conte has come under some heavy scrutiny as of late for his actions and tactics. Today’s game will silence his doubters for another day.
