Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was interviewed by Inter TV after the Barcelona match where his team were brave and resilient throughout.
“I congratulated the guys. We produced a brilliant performance against an excellent side. We created a lot of opportunities and dug in when we were required to do so.
“By winning, we would have put things to bed with two games to go in a very difficult group. Now, we’ll focus on the league before doing what is necessary to bring joy to our fans by qualifying.
“We knew that we’d have to be brave; we know the qualities that Barcelona possess, but we never stopped playing. As a team, we created a lot in the first half and then they scored. I told the lads to stay calm because we knew that we could inflict damage and create big chances.
“We only had two strikers available; Dzeko and Lautaro are playing a lot but did excellently. We could have won it, but now we have the opportunity to secure qualification from the most difficult Champions League group in front of our fans.
Lastly, Inzaghi was asked about the all important match against Plzen in a fortnight’s time.
“Am I expecting San Siro to be sold out? Since I’ve been here, the fans’ support has never been lacking.”
