Alessandro Altobelli, former Inter player and World Cup winner with Italy, spoke on Rai Sport about Inzaghi’s substitutions against Milan.
“Inter played well for 70 minutes but after the changes the team never crossed the half-way line. Inzaghi made a mistake.“
Altobelli is definitely not wrong as Inter took out three crucial players which swung the momentum in Milan’s favour. Perisic, Lautaro and Hakan were ensuring the result would stay Inter’s until they were taken out for Dimarco, Sanchez and Vidal respectively.
These changes negatively impacted the scoreline, so I hope Inzaghi won’t make the same mistake again.
This match is a real confidence buster, as I’m sure the team are distraught. Inter dominated for the majority of the match, yet the 3 points went the opposite way.
Let’s hope Inter can bounce back with some wins in the next few fixtures. It’s not the end just yet, as there is plenty of football still to be played.
