Inter defeat Verona 2-0.

Inter have defeated Verona 2-0 after Perisic assisted in both first half goals for Barella and Dzeko. The perfect way to ease the pressure.

One of Inter’s best performances for a couple of months which is a great sign considering how close we are to the finish line. Especially after the scrappy performance against Juventus the week prior.

Let’s look further into the match itself.

That left flank –

There was a dominating figure on the left side of the pitch for the opening 45 minutes. It was one of the best showings I’ve seen from Perisic in an Inter shirt, and he was pretty much unplayable. It’s not hard to understand why he was chosen as our Man of the Match.

The two assists from Perisic were well deserved and this was an individual performance which fans have been requesting for months. It was also fantastic to see a multiple goal lead going into the break.

The question on our minds is, will Ivan be an Inter player next season? The signing of Gosens makes me feel the intentions of the club is to move on from Perisic, but we’ve seen this entire season that Perisic has so much left to offer.

It’s crazy to think that Inter currently have two of the best left wingbacks in Serie A on their roster, so it would be silly not to give Perisic a new contract for the salary he is asking for.

Inzaghi deserves praise –

The midfield is Inter’s engine, and it seems like Inzaghi has finally realised this. The likes of Barella, Brozovic, Hakan, Perisic and Dumfries are the link between our defence and attack.

Without the important midfield components as mentioned above, this Inter team cannot play the expansive style we are used to and the chemistry of our team can be severely lacking.

Today we saw De Vrij, Skriniar and Di Marco line up in defence, and it looked just as solid as always. De Vrij went off at half-time and our back three didn’t skip a beat with D’Ambrosio coming in.

The same could be said for the attack with Lautaro out and Correa taking his place in the starting line up. If anything, the attacking component of Inter looked it’s best since mid December when we were in red hot form.

There was plenty speed and energy being seen for Inter, and it was like a breath of fresh air. This team looks rejuvenated and it’s come at the right time of the campaign. Bravo to Mister Inzaghi who’s kept this teams attitude positive and has us still in striking distance this close to the end of the season.

Two in a row, seven to go!

Another clean sheet and another win for Inter. It seems that the 1-0 win over Juventus has really given this team some much needed inspiration.

When Inter keep a clean sheet, the win is almost assured. So far this season Inter hold the most clean sheets in Serie A with 14, and 12 of those being victories. So, if we can keep our opponents scoreless then the win is nearly guaranteed.

With only 7 matches to go, these latest fixtures against Juventus and Verona give nothing but confidence to Inter’s title hopes moving forward. If Inter’s defence continues to stay strong, then the Scudetto is going to be almost certainly ours.

The pressure has been put on our rivals, and the Serie A Champions are hot on the trail. The current lead from Milan is only 1 point. Let’s see what the next few weeks has in store for us.

Where to next?

Inter head to Spezia where the match will be played on a Friday night in Italy. The prior meeting was a 2-0 win to the Nerazzurri back in December. Since Spezia are almost certain to avoid relegation, the desire of Inter must be greater than that of Spezia.

Prediction: Inter 2-0
