The change started last season
Beppe Marotta:
The main and most important step was appointing this genius. Afterall, Beppe was the one that revived a dead Juventus. A man who already took a club from their darkest times to probably their best decade.
First things first, Marotta started his work by fining Radja Nainggolan for coming late to training. He also stripped Icardi from his armband right after Wanda’s declarations on TV about the rest of the Inter players, all of that while facing difficulties to extend Mauro’s contract. But I won’t get into those details.
His next step was to bring his own man: Antonio Conte. And for him to do his magic, Beppe gave him everything he asked for.
Through free signings and masterclass transfer deals, Beppe Marotta has been able to strenghten Inter’s squad massively just like he did with Juventus few years back.
Barella, Alexis and Sensi on loan deals, Lukaku at a lower price and payable over 5 years, Godin for free etc.. Only to please his man, Antonio Conte.
Antonio Conte:
As Conte was announced, we all knew we’d be playing with a 3 man defense. In Godin, De Vrij and Skriniar, it was all set for that part of his formation.
He then asked for specific players that he had already shortlisted. Conte brought in his soldiers, and showed the door to Inter’s outcasts: Perisic, Icardi and Nainggolan.
For various and different reasons, those three left Inter. All on loan.
Many fans were skeptical, but he proved everyone wrong. Antonio Conte has so far only disappointed once. And even then, he acknowledge his mistake and we’ve only saw improvement since the draw against Slavia.
Do you even read that? We, Inter fans, are disappointed with a draw in the UCL.
The dressing room:
You can sense it. You can feel it at every goal. We have a homogeneous group in which each and every member enjoy being. They smile, they hug and except the reportedly “fight” between Brozovic and Lukaku; no drama.
A fight you say? Few days before the derby? Lukaku involved?
Cut the crap Italian newspapers we know those fake news before a derby. And it didn’t work. We won that game. TOO.
THE BIG WEEK:
Ahead of us, two very difficult games. Barca on an away game counting for UCL to climb up that group table and Juve at the Giuseppe Meazza to defend our 1st spot.
If we manage to maintain our strength of character, our motivation and composure; our season will exceed what we expected from it.
Two must-win games that will probably change the course for the rest of the season. Although we’re in October, those two games might change everything.
