Former treble winner with Inter, Wesley Sneijder is now a member of Inter’s Hall of Fame after being selected from the midfielder category.
The voting took place in November last year, and the results have now announced once per month since then.
So far, we have had goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward is yet to come. If I was to take a guess at who the forward will be for 2021, my guess will go to Alessandro Altobelli. The Italian striker ranks 2nd for most goals for Inter ever!
The other members besides Sneijder from the class of 2021 include Gianluca Pagliuca (goalkeeper) and Marco Materazzi (defender). Another two of the greats to play for Inter.
Check out our Inter Worldwide article from late last year where we ranked Sneijder in #10 for the Top20 players of the last 20 years.
Sneijder had more to say about the prestigious award and his time at Inter.
“I’d like to thank all the Inter fans for choosing me for the Inter Hall of Fame: it’s a huge honour for me and I’m truly grateful. I’ll never forget what I went through with the Nerazzurri; that period is an important part of my life. Inter is like a family to me and I’m honoured to be a part of it.
“In 2010 we rewrote history in winning the treble: I can’t wait to go back to San Siro so that I can relive those amazing feelings the stadium gives you. I miss being in Milan, in our stadium, with our supporters. I hope I can celebrate this recognition that you have given me together with you all. Forza Inter, forever!”
