This evening, the wife and agent of Inter’s former captain Mauro Icardi, Wanda Nara was awarded the “Socrates Prize” for freedom of speech.

From the stage at the Albergo Rosa Grand in Piazza Fontana in Milan, Wanda Nara expressed her gratitude for the reward:

“Thank you for this award. I am a mother of five children, two of them female and I hope they meet a man like my husband who defends me and lets me talk.”

“Sometimes I say things that we disagree and argue about at home but I think the women must always be listened to with the utmost respect.”

“I thank you all because as an Argentine in Italy, you opened the doors for me. In this wonderful country, I am proud of this award, even for my children.”

“I will continue saying what I think, then I know the world of football is difficult for woman. I have worked since I was little and in this world women must be independent and to my little ones, I wish a quieter world.”
