Lukaku and Lautaro will help Inter win Serie A

We sit here less than a month before the season begins and a few things have changed for Inter including the coach.

Let’s dive into why Inter will win their 20th Serie A title and more importantly, adding that second star on the jersey.

We can provide the two obvious but essential reasons why Inter will go back to back as you’ll see below.

LuLa is going to EXPLODE!

The second major reason why Inter is going to retain the Scudetto is because of Lukaku and Lautaro. These two have built up a formidable strike-force up front and proving to be deadly in nearly every match.

Statistically, these two are playing at an elite level with each other. There aren’t many partnerships in world football who can provide these sort of numbers. Last season this is how Lukaku and Lautaro performed in Serie A;

Lukaku – 24 goals and 11 assists.
Lautaro – 17 goals and 10 assists.

Absolutely incredible numbers, and you could argue that both are still yet to hit their peak. Obviously Lukaku is a few years older than Lautaro, but with the recent performances in the Euro from Lukaku, we are ready for another fantastic season ahead. Also adding, another season of Italian football under his belt too.

Lautaro on the other hand had a brilliant Copa America campaign, where he banged in 3 goals from 6 appearances. Lautaro was one of the decisive factors in a couple of those wins for Argentina. Winning both the Serie A title and Copa America in the same year will bring some exuberant confidence back to the squad.

The other part of confidence I have is looking at what Inzaghi did with Immobile. The fact he was able to get 56 goals from Immobile over the past two seasons make me wonder what’s in store for Lukaku and Lautaro.

I’ve got a lot of faith in our striking partnership, and with them firing we will see Inter lift the Serie A trophy again. More importantly, retain that Italian badge on the front of our jersey and add a second star too.

Defence always was, and still is the key –

Inter boasted the best defence in season 2020-2021, and this will continue going into the new season. Only conceding a total of 35 goals through 38 games last season setup the first piece of silverware for a decade.

Considering Inter leaked 8 goals in the 4 matches, to only concede 27 goals in the next 34 games is a feat in itself. We should all be very proud of last season’s Inter side!

The pivotal back three consisting of De Vrij, Skriniar and Bastoni will deliver again this campaign too. Last year I wrote many times, these three are key to Inter’s success. It’s the same tune again this year!

Once we had these back three together, our clean sheets started to dramatically improve as the season went on. They are the building block to success, and I really hope Inzaghi doesn’t mess around with a winning formula.

This campaign, we should see Bastoni have his breakout season and really start to become a leader. At the age of only 22, it’s crazy to think he should be a leader? However after winning both the Serie A title and Euro with Italy, these victories will mold Bastoni into such a more experienced player and someone who will lead Inter in the future.

Although I see Bastoni improving a lot, I think Skriniar will have his best Inter season yet. The player Skriniar looked for Slovakia in the Euro’s, we were all so proud of. Finally the world is seeing who Milan Skriniar truly is! A warrior who will fight for his teammates and is hungry to see the ball down the other end of the pitch. He plays like Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings “You shall not pass!”.

Finally to De Vrij, he is a pure master of his class. Since joining from Lazio, De Vrij has impressed and continued to impress every single season. I see the same again this year, and the partnership of that back three is only going to improve further.

It’s definitely a cliché, but stopping goals is just as important as scoring them, and with these 3 players I don’t see us conceding many.

As always, Forza Inter!
