Trent Sainsbury, former Inter player & Australian International had nothing but kind words for his former employer after speaking with FCInterNews.it.
You must be happy for PSV’s performance, but are you disappointed for your former fans?
“Yes, absolutely. I wanted to do well for my new club but I still have affection for Inter. I was hoping that both clubs could take something positive from tonight, but that does not always happen in football.”
Were you expecting such a difficult clash?
“We came expecting a difficult clash against an opponent who was desperately looking for victory, and who would be supported by amazing fans. In that case, I think we showed our worth as a team tonight.”
Did you get the impression that Inter were satisfied with a draw?
“Yes, at a certain point I thought that the Nerazzurri had taken their foot off the accelerator – perhaps because they were aware of the advantage they held at that time over Tottenham. However, once they learned of the equalizer in Spain, they began to push again and tried to bring the result home.”
What does Inter mean to you?
“They will always be ‘Inter’ – a great club. I wish them all the best.”
