Trent Sainsbury, former Inter player & Australian International had nothing but kind words for his former employer after speaking with FCInterNews.it.
Mauro Icardi & Matteo Politano have both expressed their regret at not progressing to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
Following Inter’s 1-1 draw with PSV, Borja Valero had this to say to Sky Sport: “There is bitterness and disappointment. We started well with intensity and chances on goal, however, we were then caught up in a bit of a frenzy. We got back into the game bit by but in the end, it wasn’t enough."
Having provided the assist for Mauro Icardi’s equaliser, Matteo Politano has since had this to say after Inter’s 1-1 draw with PSV: “There is a lot of disappointment, especially after the first half when we committed too many errors. We grew a lot after the interval and created many goalscoring chances. After Icardi’s goal, we should’ve kept pressing but we’d already given a lot."
A beautiful header goal from Mauro Icardi wasn’t enough to secure Inter’s qualification to the Round of 16 stage of this season’s Champions League. It finished 1-1 between the Nerazzurri and PSV Eindhoven at the Meazza. Here's what Luciano Spalletti said following tonight’s match: "We are bitterly disappointed with the result, it hurts for all of us. It’s also tough to take for our fans."
"We are Inter and we’ll give our all tomorrow to get through the group, even if we’re aware that it doesn’t all depend on us," he started by saying."It will be an extremely important match, we want to go through but we know it won’t be easy. It’s normal that we always want the best, first of all, we want to make it through before focusing on the league until the end of 2018. We’re a strong team and we must always aim to go far, in all competitions."
