Skriniar likely to join PSG in June – Not January

Skriniar devastated after 2-0 defeat to Liverpool

Milan Skriniar has been linked with PSG for a while now. The most likely scenario is that Skriniar leaves for free in June, and not sold now.

It seems that PSG would like to directly negotiate with the player, and not be forced by Inter now.

This is unfortunate for Inter, as money would be needed to invest in a new defender. There have been several names thrown out there including Milenkovic (who was linked last transfer window). A few other names thrown around has been Djalo of Lille, Smalling of Roma and Scalvini of Atalanta.

Realistically, Scalvini is out of the question as Atalanta have requested €40mil. Where as Djalo is closer to €15, with Milenkovic pretty close to that same number too. Smalling will be a free agent in June so that’s the more obvious choice for Inter.

Back to the Skriniar saga, his agent Roberto Sistici made the comments below. First talking about the transfer debacle last year leading up to the current situation.

“The truth is that the decision to place Milan Skriniar on the transfer market in the summer was made by Inter, obviously not by the player.

“It was a choice by the club that led to a negotiation between Inter and PSG, of which we had obviously been informed. At a certain point, the negotiation broke down, and we had also been informed of this step. A decision that was not up to us and which the player accepted calmly, with professionalism and absolute respect for the contract.

“Last autumn, we responded to all the meeting requests made by the club. After a series of preliminary meetings, we presented our financial request. Subsequently, at the beginning of November 2022, the club presented us with a proposal.

“About a month later, before Christmas, I communicated to Inter the decision not to accept their offer. A choice also reiterated at the beginning of January before the Supercoppa. I informed the managers Marotta and Ausilio that we thought we were free to listen to offers from other clubs.

“Maybe it wasn’t mandatory communication, but for the player and myself it was the most correct way to proceed knowing that seriousness and transparency are the best way to proceed for us. I repeat, we have never missed any appointment with Inter.

“We didn’t talk about PSG, just as we didn’t leak ours or Inter’s positions. Given that with Inter we had agreed to handle the matter with the right confidentiality. Of course, in the interest of serenity and the performance of the team and of the player.

“There are contacts with some clubs. Not Italian.”

The club will always move forward, even without players like Skriniar.
