After a jubilant week of celebrating their first Scudetto in a decade, Inter have come out and smashed Sampdoria 5-1 at the San Siro.
This proves the hunger is still there for this Inter side. Even if the league title is wrapped up, we are going to continue to play impressive football.
There are going to be no doubters by the time this season is finished, as we will look to continue celebrating with wins for weeks ahead.
Let’s look at the key points in the match against Sampdoria.
Squads win titles!
Today was the perfect example where an individual player doesn’t win you a season. Even though Lukaku has been Inter’s best all year, he did not feature in this match.
Conte decided to give Lukaku a well-earned break, and give Sanchez an opportunity to play with Lautaro up front. Sanchez would score 2 goals and thus earning himself the Man of the Match award.
Same could be said for Gagliardini, as he was called upon to do a job and today he did not disappoint. Scoring a goal and also becoming a provider for Alexis with an assist, it just shows how perfect the squad balance has been for Inter this season.
Conte has played the perfect league season, so let’s hope our goal is performing well in the Champions League in the next campaign.
It is one thing to rule Italy, but to conquer Europe is a whole different ball game!
Special mention –
To the complete professional – Andrea Ranocchia.
What a pleasure it has been for you to be apart of this Inter squad. Yes, you have had your moments where the Inter fanbase has turned on you, but you never kept your head down.
You always moved forward, and I’m sure you thought to yourself “how can I contribute to this Inter side?”.
We can be sure it’s not what you have done on the field but mostly off the field which sets you apart. Being a leader and role model for the younger players such as Bastoni has been inspirational.
We need players like you in our Inter team as you have been fundamental is building a strong team culture at Inter!
Where to next?
A midweek fixture again at home against an out of form Roma team. Roma have struggled as of late, with zero victories in their past 4 Serie A matches.
Inter will look to continue their winning ways, as the end of the season is near. Unfortunately the 100 point mark is out of the question, but winning the league is satisfaction enough.
Prediction: Inter 2-0
