Anthony dives into the player ratings for Inter v SPAL in which, despite victory, the majority of Inter players still under performed.
Samir Handanovic – 6.5: Not much to do but looked calm and a clean sheet deserves the necessary respect.
Cedric Soares – 6: Made a decent few runs and crosses but still went missing on countless occasions. A redemption still feels unlikely.
Stefan de Vrij – 7: The rock we needed at the back today. Disruptions to the rest of the backline didn’t shake the Dutchmen.
Joao Miranda – 6: Petagna really should have been given a yellow for basically breaking (fracturing) his nose. A 6 for his bravery.
Henrique Dalbert – 6.0: Passes weren’t clever, lost his positioning a few times. But recovered well and i think the more the match went on, the more competent he looked.
Roberto Gagliardini – 6: His first half performance was a 3 at best. A great recovery to earn his stripes and his goal today. 6 all round seems fair.
Marcelo Brozovic – 4: Looked slow, fatigued, and unsurprisingly was brought off injured just before the interval. Not a day he will look back on fondly. Needs rest and will most definitely miss the 2nd leg against Frankfurt.
Matteo Politano – 6.5: A well taken goal, and the most exciting attacker on the night. Could do with a little more confidence but slowly and surely, it is arriving. Word of a redemption soon starting to creep out.
Joao Mario – 5.5: A bit of a passenger today although looked composed on the ball. Just doesn’t offer any of the flair and creativity (most of the time) that we have grown to expect).
Kwadwo Asamoah – 6.5: Although he wasn’t fantastic by any means today, credit where it is due for being versatile. Was deployed in three (3) different roles.
Lautaro Martinez – 6.5: Deserved a goal, despite the decision being the correct one. Another good showing from El Toro.
Antonio Candreva – 4: Goodness me. Gets ball, attempts to do everything himself, ignores players left and right, overplays passes, mishits stupid shots. Another Candreva-esque performance.
Andrea Ranocchia – 6.5: Gave 150% again today and it was imperative to getting us over the line. You can feel the passion step up a notch whenever he is involved.
Borja Valero – 6: Was the perfect performance for him. Minimal minutes, a tired SPAL midfied, did his job.
Luciano Spalletti – 6: Hit and miss. But we have three points regardless. Squad rotation and injuries are not easy to deal with this time of year and that has to be taken into account. 6 for the boss.
