As Inter continue to sort out their goalkeeper position for next season, the club announced today that they have renewed Stefan De Vrij’s contract to a two year extension.
Expiring in 2025, the renewal will continue to pay De Vrij’s current salary of about 4 million euros. This forthcoming season will mark the Dutchman’s sixth season with the Nerazzurri since joining the club on a free transfer from Lazio in the summer of 2018.
Born in 1992 in the Dutch village of Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, De Vrij was playing for the Feyenoord youth club by age of 10. By 2009, he was playing professionally for them in the Eredivisie and would continue with them until 2014. That year, he joined his first Serie A club Lazio appearing in 95 matches and scoring 8 goals for the next four seasons.
In his first five seasons with Inter, De Vrij has made 203 appearances across all competitions winning a total of six trophies with the Nerazzurri including the scudetto in 2021. He will be looking to help his club add to that collection for at least the next two years.
