It’s official, Matteo Darmian has extended his contract with the Nerazzurri until June 2024! The wingback recently scored the winning goal against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarter finals to send Inter to the semis!
The Italian defender has proven to be pivotal for Inter’s title race under Conte and now under Simone Inzaghi. After Milan Skriniar signed for French side, Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer, Matteo Darmian stepped up to replace him in the right centerback position – a role the wingback is not particular experienced in. However, the 33 year old showed his class and professionalism against an in-form Atalanta with a man of the match performance in his first real test at centerback.
Official statement by Inter:
“FC Internazionale Milano are delighted to announce that Matteo Darmian has agreed to extend his contract with the Club; he will stay with the Nerazzurri until 30 June 2024.”
