Alessandro Bastoni was substituted out against Roma in the Coppa Italia due to an ankle injury.

Inter led 1-0 at the end of the first half, in a clash between Bastoni and Nicolo Zaniolo, the Neroazzuri defender suffered an ankle injury. Inter staff, players and fans watched with great concern as he limped off the pitch.

The pain in Bastoni’s face and how he was limping made us think the worst. This especially is because of the upcoming UCL match against Liverpool next Wednesday. (He has been sanctioned with two games of suspension in Serie A after cursing at one of the officials during the Derby)

Official News of the injury

Today Inter website informs that “Alessandro Bastoni was subjected this morning to tests that confirmed the sprained trauma to his right ankle. The player will be re-evaluated in the coming days”.

This is indeed good news because a ligament rupture has been avoided. The recovery of an ankle sprain varies according to the case. But there is a little hope that Bastoni could be available for the UCL clash with Liverpool. It is very probable that he will be back to match fitness after fulfilling his sanction in Serie A.

Bastoni gives us hope

Today Sky Sport documented the exit from Appiano Gentile of the Italian defender. When he stopped to sign some autographs for the fans present, Alessandro answered a question from one of them asking if there is a chance he can play against the Merseyside squad after the ankle sprain. His answer gives all the fans some relief: “Yes, let’s hope come on!”
