Inter crashed out of the Coppa Italia at the hands of Napoli, missing out on a chance to win a trophy for the first time in nine years.
Inter started the match brightly, and were rewarded after only 3 minutes. January signing Christian Eriksen scored a remarkable goal directly from the corner flag, equalising the tie almost immediately.
Napoli regained composure late in the first half, and were rewarded for their efforts moments before the break.
Insigne pounced on an Ospina clearance, before teeing up Mertens for the equaliser in the bling of an eye.
Inter, clearly rattled by the counter-attack, came out second best at the start of the 2nd half, but started to press Napoli further after the hour mark.
Chances for Eriksen and Sanchez failed to be converted, with Ospina the hero again pulling off multiple saves.
At the final whistle, Inter were noticabley disappointed, having forgone the chance to add silverware to their cabinet.
All focus and attention will be on their upcoming fixture with Sampdoria next week.
