In a recent interview with Sky Sports, former Inter president Massimo Moratti revealed how he would have reacted to Juve’s signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. He said: “we would have tried to send a message, we might have made an attempt to sign Messi”. While Moratti no longer has a role in the club, it’s nice to see that his “think big” attitude hasn’t left him.

Moratti also praised inter’s current president Steven Zhang, claiming that “despite his youth, he has great entrepreneurial skills and common sense. I believe in his work, he doesn’t want to seem unprepared.”

The former president also commented on some of the players he remembers fondly. He described Alvaro Recoba’s left foot as “the most beautiful I have ever seen” and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as “an opera singer”, adding that “he pretended to look down on everyone else, but was a true leader.”

Finally, Moratti mentioned the interesting story behind the singing of Wesley Sneijder. The Dutch midfielder was suggested to him by a bar owner, a huge Inter fan who believed him to be “the missing piece that could allow the nerazzurri to win the Champions League.” All inter fans should be thankful for the unnamed barman’s foresight then, as well as for Moratti’s willingness to listen.
