Mercato for Scudetto – that is the title of today’s article published by Corriere dello Sport. The report claims that Inter will try to strengthen the team in every department in order to reach the 20th title. Kalidou Koulibaly and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are the current top targets in front of the management.
Inzaghi and the management are on the same page – a summer mercato to chase the scudetto is in front of us.
Yesterday, there was a meeting between Simone Inzaghi and the club’s management. The meeting lasted more than three hours and the goals for the next season were set. Regarding the transfer market, in order to buy Inter will have to sell. There will not be any extra budget for expensive signings thanks to the great financial year. Still, no big names should be sacrificed, unless a huge offer arrives. Inter will need to find a new signing in every department. Skriniar and Gagliardini are officially no longer players of the club, which opens a space in defense and midfield. In attack, Lautaro is the only certainty for the upcoming campaign.
Kalidou Koulibaly and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are the dream targets.
Milan Skriniar’s replacement is currently the top priority. And Inzaghi dreams of Kalidou Koulibaly. Chelsea’s defender had a bad season in England and the London club will look to get rid of his huge salary. A loan deal could be negotiated, but it would be a difficult negotiation. Inter will have to sit at the table with Chelsea also to discuss the future of Romelu Lukaku and Andre Onana. The goalkeeper is a top target for the English club, but Inzaghi is keen on keeping him.
In the midfield zone Roberto Gagliardini left the club and Inzaghi wants a new physical player in this role. The coach’s dream is his former player from his time at Lazio – Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. However, the required fee for the Serbian international is around €40 million. This is not a prize Inter could currently pay, so there are two options. The first one requires the sale of another midfielder. Marcelo Brozovic could leave for around €30 million. The second one is for Lazio to accept a player+cash offer, which for the moment doesn’t seem likely.
Another midfielder linked to Inter is Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi. Marotta already had a meeting with the Neroverdi’s management and there are positive signs. Still, the valuation is similar to the one Lazio has for Milinkovic-Savic. It remains to be seen if Inter could find the right formula with one of the two clubs.
