Match Preview: Juventus Vs Inter – All you need to know

After the 2-2 away draw against Roma, Luciano Spalletti’s Inter are set for another tough fixture on the road. Inter will take on Juventus on 7 December away from home at Turin at 20:30 CET

There’s no doubt Juventus have been in great form this season and leading Serie A with 40 points. This leaves Inter trailing in 3rd place with 11 points behind (inter currently have 29 points).

Certainly, this match will be crucial for both sides. For Inter, it is to prove their strength against a dominant Juventus and prove they are Scudetto contenders. For Juventus, this means increasing their gap away from Napoli and Inter and making it difficult to catch up similar to the previous seasons.

Last Meeting

The most recent meeting between the two sides was in Turin exactly a year ago, finishing goalless on 9 December 2017. Allegri’s side are coming into the game with an undefeated streak after winning 0-3 at Fiorentina (13-1-0). While Inter on the other hand, have a record of 9-2-3 in the Serie A.

Statistics (Inter.it and Opta)

Juventus have scored 31 and conceded eight this season while Inter scored 27 and conceded 12.

Juventus and Inter have played each other 170 times in Serie A: the Bianconeri have won 81 of those games, while Inter have come out on top 46 times. There have been 43 draws. With an average ball possession of 59.3% and 59.2% respectively, Juventus and Inter have had the ball the most out of all the teams in Serie A so far this season.

Since playing against Juventus for the first time on 6 January 2013, Mauro Icardi has found the back of the net eight times against the Bianconeri in Serie A. Only six teams have scored more times than this in the same period (Sampdoria 13; Napoli and Fiorentina 11; Inter, Roma and Verona 9). Mauro Icardi is the only player in Inter’s current squad to have scored at Juventus’s ground in Serie A

Samir Handanovic is the top shot stopper percentage-wise when it comes to saves made (77.8%). Sepe and Szczesny are the second and third best goalkeepers on this list after having saved 77.5% and 75% of the shots fired at them respectively.

Milan Skriniar is the player who has got in the way of the most shots from opposition players so far this season (15).

Ivan Perisic hasn’t scored in his last 10 games in Serie A: he has already gone 11 games without scoring between December 2017 and March 2018.

Inter News

Spalletti has confirmed that both Radja and Dalbert are both unavailable for this match due to injuries. Lautaro Martinez will be available despite his recent accident. The only question that remains is, will Spalletti rotate certain players and tactics against Juventus. Many fans are disappointed in Ivan Perisic’s recent form and that leaves mixed opinions on whether he should start or will sit out ahead of Keita Blade who’s been in form recently with three goals and an assist in his last two appearances in the league.

Juventus News

Allegri has announced that Moise Keen will not be called up due to fatigue issues. Emre Can has been included in the squad after returning to training following his thyroid surgery. however, Alex Sandro and Sami Khedira are unlikely to be fit enough to play.

Match Prediction

Juventus at home is extremely difficult, however, an Inter win is very doable. It will be a very good match, a very first Icardi – Ronaldo clash. My prediction is a 2-1 win for Inter with goals coming from Icardi and Politano and Ronaldo for Juventus.
