Marotta: “Spalletti will not be sacked because it is not his fault.”

Inter’s CEO Beppe Marotta was interviewed and spoke about Inter’s target this season:

“I consider Inter in a phase of corporate growth, the goal must absolutely be to reach fourth place which is not easy to reach because they are other high level teams. However, we can do it as we have enough quality to do so. The derby will be important but not a decisive race.”

Marotta expressed his disappointment following the elimination from the Europa League:

“There is bitterness for this defeat and I do not want to come up with the excuse of lack of players despite the 9 players available. Now it is necessary to bring out even more pride and sense of belonging which are indispensable elements for achieving the objectives.”

Marotta concluded the interview by speaking about the future of Luciano Spalletti and the current situation of Mauro Icardi:

“Spalletti at risk of being sacked? Absolutely no as the difficulties arise regardless of the name of the coach. He is leading the team in the best way possible and with him we have to get to the Champions League.”

“As for Icardi, there is nothing new and there is nothing to add. I am always optimistic because I think that common sense always prevails.”
