Lautaro Martinez have, during the last months, been linked to pretty much most major European clubs.
However, the one club that seems to be highly interested and linked with the 22 year old is of course FC Barcelona. It is well-known that Messi appreciates Lautaro and wishes to make him come to Barca.
Ever since the Copa America, media have been insisting on Barca’s high interest in Inter’s forward. After Suarez’s serious injury, it is reported that Barca will work to bring Lautaro as his replacement.
Beppe Marotta has today reacted on Sky Sports to these rumours by declaring: “Lautaro is only focused on Inter at the moment. He only wants to play under Inter’s beautiful colors.”
Marotta also added: “Inter has nothing to envy to any other club. Players can only leave if they ask for it.”
Inter’s CEO’s statement draws the line as to what will decide Lautaro’s future: only him. Inter made it clear that they are keen on keeping him but will allow him to leave if he wants to.
A saga to be continued. Lautaro is yet to sign a new contract that would improve his market value and maybe see his release clause removed.
