Joaquin Correa to miss more than a month due to an injury

Inter forward Joaquin Correa is set to miss more than a month due to a thigh injury. This is reported in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Argentinian forward was ruled out of the Derby della Madonnina just hours before the kick-off. The expectations were for a less serious injury. However, further evaluations show that Correa could be sidelined for more than a month.

Joaquin Correa is having a tough season. The forward had to miss the World Cup due to an injury just days before the beginning of the competition. Now he could miss another important period of time for his club. Correa currently has  3 goals and 2 assists in all competitions for Inter during the current campaign. Inter management surely expected more from the forward after his arrival last year. The club paid more than €30 million for the forward, who is yet to prove his value.

Correa could miss a very important part of the season

This would be a huge blow to Simone Inzaghi if confirmed. The coach will have to deal without one of his strikers for five Serie A games and the important first leg versus Porto in the Uefa Champions League. Inter will hope to have Correa back for the second game in Portugal, scheduled to take place on the 14th of March. Only five days later, Inter hosts Juventus in Serie A. This could be a decisive week for the whole season.

In the meantime, a rotation between Lautaro Martinez, Edin Džeko, and Romelu Lukaku will be the obvious solution. The Lautaro-Džeko partnership proved to be very effective in the past campaign. In the last two games, we saw a glimpse of the Lukaku with whom Inter fans fell in love three years ago. Inzaghi will hope that he finally returns to his best form and that all three of them can contribute enough in the absence of Joaquin Correa.
