Inzaghi was obviously upset after the loss to Spezia, but couldn’t take the entire blame for the loss as the players should’ve done better.
His interview with DAZN and Inter TV below.
“This is football, for what we’ve created we should’ve had a different result. We’re angry, we won’t sleep tonight but we’ll start again tomorrow because we’ll be playing in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday.”
Inzaghi went on to speak further about the match in more detail.
“This defeat hurts, we really put everything on the field. We had to have a little more grit. The first half shouldn’t end 0-0, then these games always remain balanced.
“The approach was the right one, we conceded two shots and two goals. Football doesn’t give discounts. We don’t deserve to lose this match, but we have to go on. The boys put everything into it, more cynicism was needed.
“This year the defeats have come, especially away from home. We have to do more because now we are all there in the standings and it will be a good battle.”
Simone was asked why Lukaku didn’t take the first penalty, which Lautaro missed in the first half.
“Lukaku and Lautaro are our two penalty takers, Dragowski was very good. We had 28 shots on goal, we deserved the goal first. After levelling the score we shouldn’t have conceded that penalty.”
Match review below –
Finally, Inzaghi turned to the upcoming Champions League match which is of the highest importance.
“A demanding match awaits us against Porto, we have the opportunity to go to the quarterfinals but it won’t be easy. We’ll do our best. We have the necessary time to prepare, even though this defeat really hurts us. We said goodbye to our fans, they clearly weren’t happy but on the pitch the team gave what they had to.”
Let’s see what we can do. All Interisti are hoping we can qualify for the next round. I am waiting to see a special performance from this team. It feels like we’ve been dormant for a little too long so the time has come!
