Inter failed to maintain their lead after Ashley Young’s first goal in the Nerazzurri shirt. Lazio made a remarkable come back to secure all three points at home with goals coming from Immobile and Milinkovic-Savic.
Conte and his men said this during their post match interviews:
Antonio Conte – ” We lost concentration during the match and it cost us the goals. They were both avoidable goals. However, it’s all part of our development. The lads must keep improving to ensure that they remain calm in these types of situations.”
“The same thing happened against Barcelona and against Dortmund, games that we had in our hands. So this wasn’t the first time that we went ahead and then suffered a comeback.”
“We’re challenging for the title and we should be proud of that, but we must not forget that there’s still a long way to go.”
Matias Vecino – “We had a few unfortunate moments in the game. We must be more ruthless and attentive inside the box at all times. We knew that they would be three high-pressure matches and that we needed to maintain high intensity to keep up with these type of teams but we failed to do so.”
Ashley Young – “We played well during the first half before Lazio then fought back. I’m happy with the goal, however, I’m more disappointed that we lost the game. We must prepare in the best way possible for our Europa League fixture against Ludogorets.”
It’s time for Conte and his men to go back to the drawing board and jot up some ideas on how to win big games. The tough round of fixtures will continue when Inter takes on Ludogorets in the Europa League.
