Inter VS Lazio will be taking place in the Serie A’s fifth match day. The history between both clubs in recent years has proven that this will be a spectacular match. Last season when the two clubs met each other, Inter won 3-0 in Rome, followed by loosing 1-0 in Milan. But since that result both teams have bolstered their squad and have proven to be worthy competitors.
Lazio – 5th placed
Lazio commenced the season with an emphatic 3-0 victory away to Sampdoria. Following the match both fans and the media thought that this season would be a great one for Lazio. Lazio’s second fixture was the Derby Della Capitale, where both Lazio and Roma shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Following a shock 2-1 loss to SPAL, Lazio most recently beat Parma 2-0. In the first 4 matches of the season, Lazio have scored 7 goals, and conceded 3.
Lazio look strong upfront, with their marksmen Ciro Immobile scoring 4 goals in 4 matches. He will be the man to watch. Always posing a threat, and making his way back into the national team, Immobile is in great form.
Milinkovic-Savic is another man to watch. Following a mediocre season last year, he is attempting t redeem himself. Against Parma, Savic put in a man of the match performance, sending out warning signs to the league.
Overall Lazio will be Inter’s biggest test to date in the Serie A this season. Ultimately their fate is in their own hands, and they will have to be nothing short of perfect to overcome the hurdle which is Inter.
Inter – 1st place
Inter have had the perfect start to the season, winning all four of their first four fixtures. Most recently they triumphed over their rival’s AC Milan in the Derby Della Madonnina. What has been most impressive with their start to the season is that they have only conceded 1 goal. They have transformed from a team that struggled to score, to a team that is averaging 2.25 goals per game.
Upfront Inter have shown that the loss of their top scorer Icardi has not impacted them. Lukaku scored his 3 goal of the season with countless impeccable performances from Stefano Sensi. Inter have looked extremely impressive with the ball, and even in defence, allowing only one goal in.
Conte is yet to give a great deal of time to new signings, Cristiano Biraghi, Valentino Lazaro, and Alexis Sanchez. It is because of this that you can never predict the line-up that will be presented on match day. The immense squad depth that Inter has this season is a reason for their great start to the season.
Prediction:
Inter VS Lazio is a tough match to predict, and going off their recent history, this could be anyone’s game. Last time they met in Milan; Lazio came out 1-0 victors with a Milinkovic-Savic goal. This was a time where Inter were struggling with off-field drama causing issues on the pitch.
Since then Inter has changed, and they can be described as a collective team. With an incredible defence, supported by an strong midfield, as well as being spoilt for choice up front, they are definitely something completely different.
The fact that Inter is playing at home is a massive advantage, and as a result this will favour them. If Inter are looking to compete for the scudetto, 3 points is a must, and it would be hard to not see them attain this.
Final score: Inter 1 – Lazio 0
