Last week we traveled to Inter Club Norvegia all the way to Norway. In this week’s Inter Clubs Worldwide edition we feature, Inter Club Syria. We interviewed Karim Dwair, the founder of the club.

When and how was your club created?

I, Karim Dwair, started this idea when I saw there were Inter Clubs in the nearest Arab countries. I have a good relations with them and many good friends so I thought why we don’t have an Inter club in Syria? I designed the logo for Inter Club Syria and started with a page on Facebook in 2016.

My good Syrian friends Maher Oubeid, Ahmad Kaddah, Belal Al Sarraj,  Ali Salman, Yaser Almohmmed, Wesam Abdullatif, Sami Aswad, Waseem Al Ibrahim, Hasan Abu Fakher, who are in love with Inter, they assisted me with social media and on ground activities.

They are now admins and we are managing the club together for all the activities. I connected with Inter Club Coordination Centre to put the name of Inter Club Syria in the official site!

How many members did you have at the beginning? and How many do you have now?

Originally our group had 20-25 members in each location. We have activates in different cities in Syria for example when there is a football match for Inter.

We have around 550 members in Inter Club Syria group on Facebook, and around 5700 follower on Inter Club Syria page on Facebook

How often do you meet up and where?

We always meet in the events for the matches, we are dealing with coffee shops in the main cities in Syria where we have the events.

How often do you go to San Siro (as a club)?

We’ve never gone to San Siro as a club, but there are some members who are staying in Europe, they often watch the matches there.

How old is your youngest member? The oldest?

Muhammad Kasawat 18 years old is also an active admin and a football player. The oldest is around 40.

how is Inter considered in your country? Is there a preference with other leagues/ teams in general?
Inter is always considered as a great football club in my country, actually in the last years in football you can see the fans always go with Real Madrid or Barcelona because of their media influence, but still there are loyalists who grow up on Inter and calcio, And also the new generation who know what football is and they are in love Inter.

What represents Inter for you?

Inter represents everything to us … with the great meanings of it Inter, Brothers Of The World, Brothers Universally United.

Usually at what time are Inter games in your country? does that make it difficult to follow the team?

It’s usually between 21:30 – 22:00 or at 16:00
There are no difficulties as the time zone in Syria (GMT+2) and in Italy (GMT+1)

Is there a particular player linked to your club or that you would like to have as a guest?

We are dreaming for this to happen in Syria and for sure we will have a great honor if our legend Javier Zanetti visited us.

Are you linked with any other Inter Club or would you like to?

We have many good friends and a good relations with Inter Arab Clubs like Inter Club Lebanon, Inter Club UAE, Inter Club Iraq, and we would like to have relations with all Inter Clubs around the world.

Is there any special tradition within the club?

Actually the traditions happened in the events for the matches

We always have to wear Inter shirts. With Inter accessories flags, scarves, etc.

What’s the craziest thing a member of your club did for an Inter game?

Last season in the match against Lazio when we qualified to the champions after an absence of seven years, we shouted loudly and in the craziest way … it was a great moment!
