After the failed attempt for Modric last summer, it looks like Inter are targeting another Croatian midfielder, this time Barcelona’s midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
According to Mundo Deportivo, an agreement between Inter and Barcelona for Rakitic is very close to being reached for around 50 million euros. Inter will however have to convince the Croatian who in the past few weeks has said that he wants to stay in Spain but at the same time it is going to be difficult for him to get his contract renewed.
In fact, Barcelona have already secured a player who will most probably take his place, the Ajax midfielder De Jong and this could lead to Rakitic sale. If Rakitic joins Inter, he will link up with his Croatian team mate Marcelo Brozovic.
For the decisive step, it will be necessary to wait until the end of the season as Barcelona still have Copa del Rey final and Inter still have to secure a place in next year’s Champions league.
