A comfortable 2-0 win for Inter over Lecce. Goals to Mkhitaryan and Lautaro putting Inter back on track for a top 4 position.

The rollercoaster ride which is Inter’s season is continuing. From the highs of the win over Porto, to the loss to Bologna and now the win at home against Lecce.

Inter will need to find some consistency if they hope to gain any success and trophies from this season. Especially with important Coppa Italia, Champions League and Serie A fixtures coming up.

Let’s look further into the game itself.

Improving and it’s great to see –

From the moment we signed Gosens, I’ve been waiting for him to get back to full fitness before judging him. Finally, Gosens is back to his Atalanta form and looking like his old self again.

Although it’s come at a cost with Dimarco being injured, our backup in Gosens is living up to the standards in which he was added to the Inter roster.

Robin was great against Lecce and owned the left hand side of the pitch. In both attack and defence, it was hard to fault the German for the full 90 minutes.

As we saw, Inter’s first goal was created by a sensational run down the left from Gosens with a loss cross the end product. The ball flashed across the box where it was met by Barella, and not long after Nicolo’s perfect pass to Mkhitaryan led to the ball ending up in the back of the net.

Our wingbacks need to do more of these cutbacks, as opposition defences have learned our greatest attribute are through aerial crosses.

A gem –

Not enough positive things can be said about Matteo Darmian, as he continues to prove the haters wrong. Today, he filled in for Skriniar in the 3 man defence and again showed his worth to this team.

Since joining Inter, Darmian has been a “Mr Fix It” in many ways. Hakimi left Inter, Dumfries joined and yet Darmian continued to be the first choice on the right hand side.

Now Skiriniar is leaving, De Vrij is out of form, D’Ambrosio is pretty much done at Inter and Darmian is our best option to join Bastoni and Acerbi in Inter’s defence.

Personally, I can’t give enough compliments to Darmian. Many have said he’s not Inter material, yet there aren’t many who bleed black and blue like Darmian does.

He leaves everything on the pitch and never dies wondering. Definitely an Interista in my eyes!

Where to next?

In what is supposed to be another simple win, Inter travel to face Spezia. As we’ve seen with Inter lately, the easier games are the ones proving to be the hardest.

Let’s hope we can get on a big winning streak to cement our place in the top few spots in Italy.

The gap to Napoli is definitely out of reach, but a few wins will be good for our confidence. Especially with Porto and Juventus the next two fixtures after Spezia.

Prediction: Inter 2-0

As always, Forza Inter!
