Having conquered the Champions League semi-finals, Inter is ready to return to the field in Serie A. Inzaghi’s team will face Paolo Zanetti’s Empoli on the 31st matchday of the championship. Kick-off is scheduled as the early game on Sunday at the Castellani in Empoli.
After the 15 points were reassigned to Juventus, Inter dropped to sixth place in the standings. The Nerazzurri are now 5 points away from fourth place Roma. They desperately need a win to get closer to the Giallorossi.
Inter’s probable lineup-
For the match against Empoli, Simone Inzaghi seems open to overturn much of the lineup. Onana is confirmed to stay in goal, while the defensive back three should consist of D’Ambrosio, De Vrij and Acerbi. Bellanova and Gosens are expected to play on the wings.
In the middle, Calhanoglu should return as a starter alongside Brozovic and Gagliardini, who is expected to give Barella some well-deserved rest. Finally, Lukaku and Correa are ahead of Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez as the attacking duo from the first minute.
INTER (3-5-2) Onana; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Acerbi; Bellanova, Gagliardini, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Gosens; Lukaku, Correa.
