Inter booked their place in the semi-finals after defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1. Romelu Lukaku was on target yet again as he extends his goal-scoring tally during his record-breaking debut season.
Antonio Conte spoke to the media after the game and said:
“We prepared for the match in the right way and managed to stop Bayer Leverkusen from playing. Furthermore, while in possession, we implemented what we’d worked on.”
“However, I can only compliment the guys because they wanted to show that we’re experiencing a big season. We’ve now got the chance to play in a European semi-final and should be happy about this.”
When asked about Lukaku’s impact, he said:
“Romelu has had a great season, but he’s been supported by the whole team. If all the players do well and play as a team, it puts everyone in a position to perform on an individual level too. Having strikers such as Lukaku, Lautaro, and Sanchez are important, but they need to thank the team because the group allows individuals to best express themselves.”
“From tomorrow, we need to start thinking about our next fixture, because we want to aim for the maximum without having any regrets.”
Inter will face Shaktar in the Semi-final round of the Europa League.
