The final home fixture of the disturbed 2019/2020 season ended in Inter’s favor. The Nerazzurri reclaimed the second spot in the league thanks to the goals from Danilo D’ambrosio and Lautaro Martinez.
Coach Antonio Conte spoke with the media after the match and said:
“All credit should go to the lads, who produced a great performance, even after finding out Atalanta’s result. We had no option but to win.”
“We were up against a strong side who have been the only team to make life hard for Juventus at the top for a few seasons. We responded as a real unit this evening, and I’m really happy for the group.”
When asked about how Conte intends to tackle the busy schedule, he said:
“We had to make some calculations because it’s been a really busy period where we’ve been playing every three days. Saturday will be an important occasion even beyond the league standings because we’ll be facing a side that is a strong force in Serie A and is also doing well in the Champions League. It’ll be a good test to see where we stand right now.”
Inter and Atalanta will battle it out for the second spot on matchday 38.
