The Chilean striker has been off the field since early October due to an ankle injury that later led to surgery. His re-entry was predicted for early 2020.

Although he has taken a seat on the bench for the past two games, the loanee from Manchester United is still to play a minute in this calendar year. After the 1-1 draw against Atalanta, Conte was asked why he still has not played. This is what he told reporters:

“To play players, they need to be in shape, otherwise it’s insane. Either I’d be an idiot or I’d want to hurt myself.”

He later added: “If you add one plus one, you get two, if then you want to get to five… If I don’t bring a player on, it’s not because I’m demented.”

The Chilean forward rose to fame thanks to a magical three-year spell at Udinese that ended with a move to Barcelona in 2011. Since he has had spells with Arsenal and Manchester United. He yet has to impress for the Nerazzurri and faces great competition with Lautaro and Lukaku firmly in the spotlight.

Inter are now second in the league following Juventus’ success against Roma. The gap between the capolista (head of the table) and Inter is now of 2 points.

Will Sanchez be able to rise up to the likes of La-Lu?
