“We dominated the game and had many chances to secure the result. Instead, Lazio did well to equalize with a move we’ve come to expect from them. After that goal, we lost our confidence somewhat.”

When asked about Perisic’s selection and his role in the team, Conte said:

On Barella’s midfield role, Conte replied:
“Nicolò played in attacking position at Cagliari, and I think he performed well that game. In that position, he can provide quality, danger, and balance when we’re not on the ball.”
“It is a long season, I expect all midfielders to occupy multiple positions. I am happy with the way the lads have responded.”
Regarding the squad’s depth:
“I think that this is the right mix of players to compete in all competitions as best we can. I will alternate between solutions over the course of the season.”
