According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio is reportedly Roma’s first choice to replace Monchi this upcoming summer.
Monchi looks increasingly likely to depart Roma after interest from the Premier League side Arsenal. Roma are looking for someone with ‘less decision-making powers’ and that happens to be Piero Ausilio.
The newspaper claims that the Giallorossi have sought after ex-Milan man Massimiliano Mirabelli and Parma’s Daniele Faggiano but Ausilio remains their first option. The 46-year-old has a long association with Inter, rising up through the ranks since arriving in 1997 as a secretary for their youth sector.
He’s had great success with Inter landing deals like Mauro Icardi, Ivan Perisic and Milan Skriniar in the recent years.
