In the league, things haven’t gone as planned. Yet in the Champions League, Inter’s outlook is far more positive. After eliminating Porto in the round of 16, the Nerazzurri will once again face a Portuguese club. This time it is Roger Schmidt’s Benfica side.
How does Inter arrive?
As mentioned above, Inter are not doing very well in Serie A. in the last round, they drew against Salernitana and they have dropped points in the last four games. Counting all the competitions in total, they played six games without a win. The last taste of victory occurred all the way back to March 5th, a 2-0 win over Lecce at the San Siro.
Inter’s probable lineup against Benfica
As opposed to the last league match, Bastoni should return in defense in place of De Vrij. Therefore, Acerbi would climb into the center of the back trio with Darmian on the right. Brozovic returns to controlling the midfield center, with the usual Barella and Mkhitaryan alongside him. Dumfries and Dimarco should start on the wings. In the attack, Lukaku heads to the bench while Dzeko and Lautaro will partner up front from the first minute.
INTER (3-5-2): Onana; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez.
Benfica (4-2-3-1): Vlachodimos; Gilberto, António Silva, Morato, Grimaldo; Florentino Luis, Aursnes; Chiquinho, Joao Mario, Rafa Silva; Goncalo Ramos.
