Arsenal have made an approach to sign Inter winger Ivan Perisic.
The Gunners want to seal a loan move for the 29-year-old for the rest of the season, with an option to buy him in the summer for 35 million Euro. Croatia international Perisic signed a new five-year contract in September 2017 to extend his stay with the Italian club until 2022.
However, it is understood he is open to leaving the San Siro after joining from Wolfsburg in 2015. Perisic has scored 34 goals in 142 appearances for Inter, finding the net three times in 25 games this term.
It is understood Inter would be prepared to do business for between 35M-40M Euro. The club rejected a similar-sized offer from Manchester United in 2017 and demanded 50M.
However, it is very unlikely Inter would accept these terms, preferring an outright sale.
Coach Luciano Spalletti spoke to Sky Sport Italia this afternoon and he was asked specifically about Perisic rumours.
“It’s pretty normal for people to talk about a player with the quality of Perisic, because he is complete in all areas, physically strong, has quality, stamina, pace, can provide assists…
“He can do more in terms of goals and assists, so there are some qualities he hasn’t developed enough, but he has improved in other areas.
“It’s natural Perisic is talked about, because everyone values him the same way we do. If someone is interested, the conditions have to be right to pay his value, because he is such a strong player.”
