When interviewed by CdS, Aurelio De Laurentis was questioned regarding the rumours of Icardi to Napoli, widely speculated by the media.
The €60-70m price tag doesn’t seem to be the osbtacle, with Ancelotti preferring Insigne over the out of favour Inter striker.
De Laurentis revealed: “Ancelotti said he wouldn’t exchange Icardi with Lorenzo Insigne and he’s right. Icardi may want to join Juventus, but I prefer Lorenzo to him too. He’s the one we need, while we already have Arkadiusz Milik and Dries Mertens upfront.”
“I won’t deny we asked about Icardi. I won’t deny he is talented. Icardi is an excellent player, but so much has been spoken about him, he appears older than his 26 years.”
“Looking in from the outside, he gives off the impression that he hasn’t been managed properly. He was wasted and the club didn’t understand the importance of the role he has. But our admiration for him as a player is undoubted.”
