San Siro will be the biggest advantage in this fixture, as Inter will have the backing of an albeit restricted crowd against Liverpool.
The Italian government on Sunday changed outdoor venues from 50% to 75% capacity. However, San Siro will remain at the 50% mark, as tickets were allocated before the recent changes.
See our Official match preview below.
The Nerazzurri supporters will be in full voice considering it’s the first knockout match in a decade. The last time Inter made this stage of the Champions League was back in 2011/12.
In that round, Inter faced Bayern Munich. The same team who Inter beat in the final the year before as we claimed our first European Cup in nearly 50 years. Unfortunately Inter lost the first leg at home the following season. This was thanks to Mario Gomez as pounced on a Julio Caesar mistake giving Bayern the 1-0 win.
Let’s hope it’s not a repeat with Handanovic doing something silly.
Inter obviously need to play their best on the field, as the crowd can only do so much. Taking our chances will be key as we saw Inter create the most goal scoring opportunities out of any team in the group stages.
If these opportunities can be converted into goals for Inter, then it will be two very competitive matches. As we know, Liverpool are dynamite up front so we need to limit the amount of chances we also give. Especially Salah and Mane as they have recently come off a successful African Cup of Nations.
As always, Forza Inter!
