One Of The Most Entertaining Draws Ever!

0

Inter have played out a 2-2 draw with Atalanta at the San Siro. Both teams had their moments so a point each was the fairest result.

We saw everything including some amazing goals, a missed penalty, a disallowed goal and a lot of fantastic attacking football. For 90 minutes, it was really back and forth with both teams having their opportunities to win the match.

That stadium –

It feels great to finally have some crowds allowed back in the stadium. There was over 35,000 in attendance today, as we still can’t have a full capacity stadium unfortunately.

The San Siro was rocking, and those final 10 minutes of the match were absolutely crazy. We are nearly past the COVID situation and almost back to the way things were before the pandemic.

I remember growing up hearing the fans at the Giuseppe Meazza go mental when an Inter goal was scored. Today when Lautaro scored the opener, it brought back some great memories. With the stadium commentator on the microphone “NUMERO DIECI, LAUTAROOO!!!” and the fans replied “MARTINEZ!!!”.

This season, the fans in the stadium will be crucial so I’m looking forward to Inter making the San Siro a fortress where any team gaining a point will be difficult.

Dzeko and Lautaro –

Considering Dzeko replaced Lukaku, we didn’t know if he could lead the line for Inter up front. Dzeko has come in and looked straight at home with this Inter side.

Lautaro lost his partner in crime in Lukaku but as matches are going by, we are seeing Dzeko and Lautaro build a fantastic combination. It’s only early days, but they are starting to understand each others play.

Today, both forwards would get on the scoresheet which is really starting to become a regular thing for Inter.

We are only 6 matches into the season, but these two guys have been on fire. Currently, Lautaro is 4 goals from 5 games and Dzeko is 5 goals from 6 games. Phenomenal statistics from our two strikers so fingers crossed this keeps going into the future.

If these rates keep steady, Inter will win the Scudetto. I have no doubt about that.

Handanovic –

I really don’t know what to say about Handanovic. I just want a game where I don’t need to mention him after – good or bad.

Today Samir had moments of brilliance where the Inter defence looked shaky, and Handanovic was there to clean up the mess. On other occasions, Handanovic caused problems for Inter with his play.

There were two situations which could’ve really cost Inter the match today. The first was the Malinovskiy shot which was deflected directly across goal instead of away from goal. Toloi was there to make Handanovic’s mistake count as he smashed the ball into the goal.

The second situation was the Atalanta goal ruled out by VAR. I understand why Handanovic was trying to save the ball from going out as it was a backpass. However, passing the ball back into danger was a huge mistake so the corner would’ve been fine to concede.

Luckily the ball has crossed the line, so VAR were able to step in and disallow the goal. Again though, we just need a keeper who can be consistent all season. That’s all we ask for.

Where to next?

This time a midweek trip to the Ukraine to take on Shakhtar Donetsk. Shakhtar would be upset after their opening match against FC Sheriff, so I think this may be a tricky fixture. Every Champions League fixture is hard to know what to expect.

In saying that, I still expect Inter to get the win.

Prediction – Inter 3-1

As always, Forza Inter
