After some questionable refereeing, Inter have gone down 3-2 on the night. Inter may have lost the battle, but the war was already won!
A match which had 3 penalties, 2 red cards and a whole lot of fans scratching their heads in confusion.
Let’s look a bit further into some of the key points from the match.
A loss, but not the end of the world –
Even though the result did not go Inter’s way today, it was still a performance which we were competitive in. You could almost excuse the players for switching off, as the Scudetto is wrapped up and the team has been in party mode.
This team still went to play and were hungry for the 3 points. Unfortunately the quality just wasn’t there today and I’m sure the players will want to bounce back for the final fixture of the season.
Still grateful for what this club as a whole has achieved this year, so one more fixture and then we can really party!
Shouldn’t be in Serie A –
The referee is who I am talking about here. The decision making from Calvarese just wasn’t up to the standard of quality we expect!
It almost brought us back to the Calciopoli days where there was bizarre refereeing in every match, although it went in the favour of one team’s way every time.
Most people can probably agree, the standard of refereeing across the board this season has been inconsistent so for 2021/22 this needs to be improved.
VAR can be so great because it means every moment is looked at in a match. However the referee’s are still not using the technology properly. There is no common sense being applied so this also needs to be looked at deeper.
Where to next?
Inter will face Udinese back at home for the last match of the season. I’m ready to party, and I’m sure all Inter players are ready to lift the Scudetto too.
A big result will make celebrating so much sweeter!
Prediction: Inter 5-0
