Bye bye Coppa Italia!

0

A different season, and another failed Coppa Italia campaign. Inter far too wasteful in another match dominant against Juventus.

When you need a minimum of 2 goals to qualify for the final, a team needs to be more clinical in front of goal. Unfortunately, Inter would miss every chance and a goalless second leg would be played out.

After bombing out terribly from the Champions League, and now the Coppa Italia. All the attention will turn to the league, which is the only competition Inter are still alive in.

Let’s look at some key points of the match.

Il Capitano –

A second fantastic game from our numero uno in between the posts. Handanovic made some crucial saves to keep Inter in the tie. Unfortunately, the attack would let us down, as Handanovic really did everything he could.

If only in the first leg, Inter wouldn’t have played so stupidly, then we may have stood a chance. Especially with the massive mix up between Bastoni and Handanovic which put the nail in the coffin.

That midfield can work –

Maybe Conte has seen what he needs and can start playing both Eriksen and Brozovic together. The distribution play from both these players, combined with the energy from Barella worked very well.

Finally, it looked like a midfield who were all on the same page and felt like they united as one. There was great balance which is something rarely said about the players in the middle of the park for Inter.

The attack were given their chances, but in some matches Lukaku and Lautaro just look off, and today was one of those matches. The “LuLa” combination from last year is not the same beast as this season, but there is still time to turn it around in the league.

Where to next?

A return to the San Siro to face the inform Lazio awaits Inter. To be honest, this Lazio team are now 6 wins on the trot in the league so to get a win would be a massive feat.

We are Inter, but our form hasn’t been up to scratch for a while now so fingers crossed we can get the 3 points.
