Inter came away with a victory against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Both sides battled it out for 120 minutes. Lukaku scored the winning goal in the 118th minute with Barella providing the assist.
Inter will face city rival AC Milan in a straight knockout tie in the quarter-finals.
This is what Coach and the players had to say after the match
Antonio Conte: “The boys did really well. They played with a good tempo and organization for 120 minutes.”
“We needed to rest a few because we had a lot of players who were struggling or who had a few aches or pains, like de Vrij, Bastoni, Brozovic, Barella, and Lukaku.”
“We’ve got time to recover ahead of Sunday’s match, which is an important test. We’ll prepare for it in the right way, and this result will give us a big boost.”
Nicolo Barella: “He [Lukaku] is a force of nature, he is incredible. He manages to have an excellent relationship with everybody and always has a good word to say about everyone.”
“I used to be much more free-spirited. With Conte I am more disciplined, I choose my moments. I study a lot while on the pitch; I play with great champions and every positive trait of theirs I try to adapt to my own game.”
Inter will take on Juventus over the weekend for the Derby d’Italia.
